What "Know Your Customer" means
Know Your Customer (KYC) is the standard process by which a financial service confirms that a client is a real, identifiable person, and that the information provided at registration is accurate.
In practice, KYC at FINAI means we collect and confirm a small set of basic facts about you: your full legal name, your date of birth, your country of residence, your contact details and the payment method you intend to use. We compare the details you typed into the sign-up form with the details shown on the documents you upload.
What we do not do
We do not ask for your online banking password, your full card PIN, or remote access to your device. No member of our team will ever request those. Any message that does is not from us and should be reported through the abuse form.
What "anti-money laundering" means
Anti-money laundering (AML) comprises the internal compliance mechanisms that a financial institution implements to ensure its services cannot be exploited for laundering criminal proceeds, funding illicit operations, or concealing the source of money.
AML controls are broader than a one-off identity check. They cover risk classification of new accounts, sanctions and politically-exposed-person screening, limits on unusual funding patterns, record keeping, internal escalation of suspicious activity and, where the applicable law requires it, reporting to the competent authority.
In situations where AML regulations conflict with a client's request, AML regulations prevail. This may result in a transaction being held, a demand for further documentation, or an account being placed under restrictions pending resolution.
Why verification is required
- 01
Legal obligation
Entities that handle or facilitate the movement of client money are typically obliged to verify their clients' identities prior to delivering any service. This requirement is mandatory and applies uniformly across all accounts without exclusion.
- 02
Protecting your money
Verification ties an account to one identifiable owner. It makes account takeover far harder, and it means withdrawals can only be sent back to a payment method proven to belong to you.
- 03
Keeping the platform clean
Screening keeps sanctioned parties and anonymous shell activity off the platform, which protects every other client using it.
- 04
Faster payouts later
An account verified up front does not have to stop for checks at withdrawal time, which is when delays are least welcome.
Which documents are accepted
We require documentation from up to three distinct categories. Submissions should be in colour or PDF format, fully visible within the frame, unaltered, displaying all four edges and ensuring every text element is clearly readable.
1. Identity document
An identity document issued by a governmental body that includes your photo, complete name, birth date, document identifier and validity expiration. Standard options include a passport, a state-issued identity card, or a photographic driver's licence. The document must be current and not past its expiration date.
2. Proof of address
A current document, ordinarily released in recent months, displaying your name and current residential address matching what is registered on your account. Standard documents include a utility bill, a financial institution or payment card statement, a municipal or property tax notification, or a formal communication from a state entity. Mailbox addresses and residential addresses registered to other individuals will not be considered valid.
3. Proof of payment method
Documentation confirming that the payment method is yours. For a payment card, this typically consists of a photo showing your name, the initial six digits and concluding four digits along with the expiration date, while the middle digits and card verification code are obscured. For funds transferred via bank account, supply a document or receipt in your name containing the account number. For a digital payment account, furnish a screenshot of your account settings displaying your name and the account number.
Formats and file size
Document submission restrictions, supported file formats and other documentation demands are displayed in the identity verification portion of your account. Papers written in languages differing from your account's language may need certified translation; the verification department will advise you if necessary.
The verification steps
- 01
Register
Create the account with your real legal name, date of birth, country of residence, email and phone number. Details that do not match your documents are the most common cause of delay.
- 02
Confirm contact details
Confirm your email address and, where requested, your phone number. This proves the contact channels belong to you.
- 03
Upload your identity document
Upload the pages that carry your photograph and personal data. Some checks include a short liveness or selfie step to confirm the document belongs to the person holding it.
- 04
Upload proof of address
Submit a qualifying recent document under your name using the address currently registered.
- 05
Confirm the payment method
Provide proof of the instrument you will use to fund and to receive withdrawals.
- 06
Screening and review
Our compliance team reviews the file, runs the required sanctions and risk screening, and either approves the account or asks for a correction.
- 07
Confirmation
You will receive notification once your account changes status. The active status is continuously accessible in the identity verification section of your account.
How long a check takes
Most complete submissions are reviewed within a few hours to a couple of business days. Files that need a second look, a translation or an additional document can take longer.
Processing duration fluctuates based on submission volume, document quality and whether supplementary verification checks are initiated. The estimated timeline for your specific account, including the progress of individual documents, appears in your account dashboard - this timeframe is definitive and should supersede any other estimate.
- Submissions with legible, thorough, unaltered images are processed with the quickest turnaround.
- Applications filed outside operating hours are put in queue and handled beginning the following business day.
- Enhanced review, where required, adds time and is communicated to you.
Why a check can be rejected
A denial typically indicates a document deficiency, not an evaluation of your character. The majority of rejections are resolved by resubmitting, resulting in approval at the subsequent review.
| Reason | How to fix it |
|---|---|
| Image blurred, cropped or glare-covered | Re-shoot in daylight, flat on a dark surface, all four corners visible. |
| Document expired | Upload a currently valid document. |
| Name or date of birth does not match the account | Correct the account details, or explain a legal name change with supporting proof. |
| Residence verification document outdated or not bearing your name | Provide a recent qualifying document issued to you at your registered address. |
| Payment method belongs to a third party | Provide a payment method registered to yourself - payment through third parties is forbidden. |
| File edited, cropped to hide data, or a screenshot of a screen | Submit an unmodified original image or PDF. |
| Residence in an excluded jurisdiction | Account creation is prohibited; consult our regulatory information page for more details. |
Should any decision be ambiguous, reach out to our help team and request clarification. Where regulations permit disclosure, we will furnish an explanation.
Ongoing transaction monitoring
Verification is not a one-time event. Accounts and transactions are monitored for as long as the relationship lasts.
What is monitored
Payment sources and withdrawal actions, modifications to funding methods, geographic or communication changes, conduct inconsistent with information submitted during registration, and actions identified as suspicious by our monitoring systems.
What can happen as a result
- A request to submit current documentation or a statement regarding the origin of your funds.
- A temporary hold on a specific transaction while it is reviewed.
- Modification of the spending or receiving caps displayed in your account.
- Suspension or termination of the account if mandated by applicable law.
Records
Identification data and transaction records are retained for the period required by applicable law after the relationship ends, and are handled in line with our Privacy Policy. In certain circumstances the law prevents us from telling a client that a report has been made.
Your obligations
- Give accurate, current and complete information, and keep it up to date.
- Use only your own funds and your own payment instruments - never someone else's.
- Keep one account only, and keep your credentials private.
- Respond to document requests within the timeframe stated in the request.
- Tell us promptly if you change country of residence, legal name or payment method.
- Report any suspected unauthorised access to your account immediately.
Submitting falsified or altered documents is a serious matter. It leads to closure of the account and, where applicable law requires, notification of the competent authority.
Where to ask questions
If anything on this page is unclear, or you want to know the exact status of your own verification, ask us before uploading again.
Who reviews my documents?
A trained compliance reviewer. Files are stored on restricted systems, and access is limited to staff who need it for the check.
Can I start before I am verified?
You can register and explore the account, but funding, trading and withdrawals depend on the verification status published in your account.
Do I have to verify again later?
Possibly. Documents expire, addresses change and periodic refresh is a normal part of AML compliance. We will contact you if a refresh is needed.
How do I contact the compliance team?
Use the contact route on our contact page and use the words "KYC" or "identity verification" when reaching out, including the email linked to your account. Avoid sending documentation through unencrypted channels - instead, use the account upload system.
Get verified once, cleanly
The vast majority of processing delays stem from three frequent issues: fuzzy imagery, a residence document no longer valid, and a payment source under another person's name. Correcting these items typically results in approval on initial submission.
Need help with a document?
The support team is able to provide you with precise details regarding which file was declined and the reason for its rejection.
- Review your account's verification section before proceeding.
- Then contact support with your registered email address.
